BEST OF GME HANDHELDS 5 STAR26 October 2017The exterior has a tough casing. Receiver is very sensitive at -121dbm the very best on radios is -123dbm (0.15uv). It has tuned input filter which passes PRS band only on TX/Rx so is a true city interference proofed transceiver. The audio is crystal clear & loud. Microphone has amazing clarity & you can click twice fast to send your favourite calling alert. It has an SMA socket that is extended out from the radio. You can use this on base & connect it to a base antenna. While charging there's no hum on TX. I have a jumper to connect it to my GME 12ft col-linear. This is SMA to PL259. On E bay you can type 477 SMA antenna for a 5/8th wave screw on antenna for about $18NZ. Mobile 1 in Australia make a half wave model around 1ft long. These are properly engineered for 477mhz only. 2600mah battery exceeds the more expensive handhelds from GME. Battery is long lasting. Inside the car, with a 5/8 wave on this radio was able to be heard 18km away from my base TX3120S & col-linear. It will cover 30mi with a rubber ducky to a good base station. Test was from Rangiora to Riccarton Christchurch. This is not a toy - a very professional transceiver worth every dollar. Buy it if you intend to have long range with clarity& interference rejection. Inversion scrambling is clearer than normal transmission especially when mobile, fluctuations are less noticeable. You can charge from your cigarette lighter output into the base charger as an option.
